The Bekwai Municipal Assembly has confirmed that swift action led to the arrest of three individuals following intelligence gathered by the Assembly regarding an alleged fraudulent security recruitment scheme within the municipality.
According to information received on 28th March at about 2:00 p.m., a group was reportedly organising a meeting with prospective applicants under the pretext of assisting them to gain recruitment into the security services. The suspects were allegedly demanding amounts ranging between GHS 30,000 and GHS 35,000 from victims as part of the scheme.
Upon receipt of the intelligence, the Assembly promptly alerted the Ghana Police Service, resulting in the arrest of three persons. Investigations are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged scam and to bring all accomplices to justice.
The MCE, Hon. Salifu Issaka, cautioned prospective applicants to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters who exploit job seekers with false promises of recruitment into security agencies.
He emphasized that recruitment into the security services remains transparent, fair, and strictly merit-based under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, as consistently communicated by the Interior Minister.
The Assembly reiterated its commitment to collaborating with security agencies to clamp down on recruitment-related fraud and protect residents from exploitation.
