The Bekwai Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, held a Zonal Council Meeting for the Bekwai, Essumeja, and Adumasa Zonal Councils as part of efforts to strengthen local governance and enhance community participation in the development process.
The meeting brought together key officials of the Assembly, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Petro Philemon Ankorle; the Deputy Director, Mr. Joseph Kwabena Obeng; and the Municipal Budget Analyst, Ms. Mavis Addo. Also in attendance were Assembly Members and Unit Committee Members from the three selected Zonal Councils.
The meeting provided a platform for participants to discuss issues relating to local governance, revenue mobilization, community development, and the effective functioning of the Zonal Councils. Discussions also focused on the roles and responsibilities of local government actors in promoting development and improving service delivery at the grassroots level.
Participants were encouraged to strengthen collaboration between the Assembly, Zonal Councils, and Unit Committees to facilitate the implementation of development programmes and projects within their respective electoral areas.
The Assembly reiterated the importance of active community engagement and the effective operation of decentralized structures in achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life of residents across the municipality.
