Bekwai, Ghana – November 7, 2025 – Educators across the Bekwai Municipality came together this week to celebrate the National Professional Development (IPD) Day, a dedicated initiative aimed at enhancing teaching skills and equipping teachers with the latest knowledge in educational technology. The celebrations spanned multiple days, featuring targeted workshops and trainings for teachers at various levels.
The Municipality kicked off the series of professional development activities on 3rd November 2025, with specialized training sessions for master trainers, designed to cascade knowledge and best practices to other educators across the district. This was followed on 5th November by a comprehensive workshop for School-Based ICT teachers at the Pensioner Hall, Bekwai, where participants focused on critical aspects of modern education such as cybersecurity and data protection.
The highlight of the celebrations was the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Day, held on 7th November at Pepedan SDA Basic School, which saw the participation of teachers from all pre-tertiary schools within the Municipality. On this day, teachers engaged in a range of professional development sessions, gaining practical skills and knowledge to improve classroom delivery and safeguard digital information in their schools.
Training on cybersecurity and data protection formed a central part of this year’s professional development agenda, reflecting the growing importance of digital safety in schools. Participants were equipped with strategies to protect sensitive student information, secure school networks, and adopt safe online practices—skills increasingly essential in today’s tech-driven educational landscape.
Education officers and school administrators lauded the initiative, emphasizing that such professional development programs not only strengthen teacher capacity but also directly contribute to the overall quality of education in the Municipality.
As Ghana continues to invest in teacher development and ICT integration in schools, events like the National Professional Development Day provide a vital platform for educators to update their skills, collaborate, and implement innovative practices in their classrooms.
