The Bekwai Municipal Assembly on Friday, 19th December 2025, successfully held its Third Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Bekwai.
The meeting, which commenced at 10:00 a.m., was presided over by the Presiding Member, Hon. Bruce Kofi Asante, and brought together Honorable Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, Unit Heads, and other key stakeholders of the Assembly.
Proceedings began with an opening prayer, followed by opening remarks from the Presiding Member, who underscored the importance of unity, punctuality, and commitment to the development agenda of the municipality. The Assembly subsequently considered and adopted the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting, after which members discussed matters arising from the adopted minutes.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Executive Committee’s Report by the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Salifu Issaka which provided an overview of key administrative, developmental, and financial activities undertaken by the Assembly during the period under review. Members engaged in extensive deliberations on the report and made constructive inputs aimed at improving service delivery and governance at the municipal level.
The Assembly also received a report from the Environmental Health Unit on the screening of food vendors for the year 2025. The presentation emphasized public health, food safety standards, and the need for continued compliance by food vendors operating within the municipality. Members commended the Environmental Health Unit for its efforts and called for intensified education and monitoring to safeguard public health.
Issues raised under Any Other Business focused on community development, sanitation, and effective collaboration between Assembly Members and departmental heads.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Bruce Kofi Asante expressed appreciation to members for their active participation and urged all stakeholders to remain committed to their responsibilities in advancing the development of Bekwai Municipality. The meeting ended with a closing prayer.
