The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Hon. Salifu Issaka, has visited the construction site of the Dankran Bridge at Kokotro in the Bekwai Municipality to assess the impact of recent flooding on the ongoing project.
The inspection followed several days of prolonged rainfall, which resulted in the submergence of a culvert under construction and temporarily affected progress on the project.
During the visit, the MCE evaluated the extent of the damage and received updates on the status of the works. He acknowledged that the flooding presents a setback to the construction timeline but assured residents that the Assembly remains fully committed to completing the project once water levels recede and conditions become favourable for construction activities to resume.
Hon. Salifu Issaka noted that the completion of the Dankran Bridge will significantly improve transportation and accessibility in Kokotro and surrounding communities. He emphasized that the project is expected to facilitate the movement of people and goods, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic activities within the area.
The MCE further stated that the project forms part of the broader socioeconomic development agenda of President John Dramani Mahama and the government, aimed at improving infrastructure and the quality of life of citizens.
The Bekwai Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the successful completion of the bridge project to provide lasting benefits to the people of Kokotro and its neighbouring communities.
