On 29th May, 2024, the Municipal Education and Health Directorates, with sponsorship from Blessed Care International, a non-governmental organization (NGO), organized a durbar at Denyaseman Catholic Senior High School to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day.
As part of the programme, sanitary pads were distributed to learners from participating schools in the Poano Circuit as well as students of the host school. In addition, a Pad Bank was officially launched at the Municipal Education Office to serve as a reserve where philanthropists and other stakeholders can deposit sanitary pads to ensure continuous availability and accessibility for learners in need.
The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including the Queen Mother of the Denyase Traditional Area, Nana Adumtuwaa Bonin III; Ms. Evelyn Kwarteng, the Regional Girls’ Education Coordinator, representing the Regional Director of Education; and the Chief Executive Officer and staff of Blessed Care International.
The durbar provided a platform to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene management and to promote collective support towards improving the welfare and academic participation of girls.
