
Bekwai, Ashanti Region – March 13, 2025 - The Bekwai Branch of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has successfully elected a new set of executives during a general meeting held on Thursday, 13th March, 2025, at the Bekwai Community ICT Center.
The meeting, which brought together delegates and members from various unions within the municipality, was organized to review the branch’s activities and elect new leadership to steer the affairs of the TUC for the next term.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Sheila Rosetta Arthur, who addressed the gathering on behalf of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, commended the TUC for its vital role in promoting workers' rights and improving labor conditions. She urged the incoming executives to foster unity, accountability, and proactive engagement with all member unions.
The electoral process was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, with representatives from different sectors including education, health, and local government participating in the voting exercise.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairperson expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to advance the interests of workers in the municipality.
Other elected officers also shared their commitment to advocate for better working conditions, promote workplace safety, and strengthen union solidarity at the local level.
