The renovated Queen Elizabeth II Nursery School in Bekwai has been officially unveiled in a ceremony held on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026, at the school premises.
The school, which was established to provide early childhood education for children, particularly those of market women and traders within the Bekwai central business area, had over the years suffered from deteriorating infrastructure and poor sanitary conditions due to the absence of major renovation works.
The situation had left the facility in a deplorable state and threatened the quality of the learning environment for pupils.
In response to the challenge, the Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei, undertook a comprehensive renovation of the school, giving the facility a complete facelift. The intervention included the renovation of the school block, provision of play equipment for children, and the modernization of washing facilities to improve sanitation and hygiene.
The unveiling ceremony brought together education stakeholders, government officials, traditional authorities, school management, teachers, parents, and community members who witnessed the transformation of the facility.
Speaking at the event, stakeholders commended the intervention, noting that the improved infrastructure will provide pupils with a safe, healthy, and conducive environment for learning and development.
The renovated facility is expected to enhance early childhood education delivery in Bekwai and provide children with a better foundation for their academic journey.
The Bekwai Municipal Education Directorate expressed appreciation to Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei for the support and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the effective maintenance and utilization of the facility for the benefit of learners and the wider community.
