The Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA) through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, in collaboration with Odotobiri Rural Bank, has successfully supervised the 100th Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Payment Cycle across thirty-four (34) communities in the municipality.
The payment exercise, held from 19th to 24th February 2026, was aimed at ensuring the timely, transparent, and orderly disbursement of cash transfers to eligible beneficiaries. Officials monitored activities at designated payment centres to ensure beneficiaries received their entitlements in a smooth and dignified manner.
As part of the exercise, beneficiaries were sensitized on prudent household budgeting, savings, and the effective utilization of the cash transfers to support essential household needs, including education, healthcare, and nutrition. A grievance redress mechanism was also established at all payment centres to promptly address any payment-related concerns.
