In a proactive move to address the issue of streetism within the Bekwai Municipality, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (SWCD) organized an educational event on Friday, October 6th, 2023, in Dominase. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the challenges and consequences of streetism, while also providing avenues for support and intervention.
Facilitated by SWCD Officers Mary Pokuaa Ofori, Vivian Appiah Kwabi, Ebenezer Atta Mensah, Ruth Adutwumwaa, and Emmanuel Agyare, the event was marked by a collaborative effort to engage the local community in discussions and solutions regarding this pressing social issue.
Streetism, characterized by children living and working on the streets, often without adequate adult supervision or support, poses significant risks to their well-being, development, and future prospects.
