The Bekwai Municipal Education Directorate, through the Guidance and Counselling Unit and the Girls’ Education Coordinator, on Monday, 26th January 2026, sensitized parents of Amoamo R/C Primary School on the Nutrition Friendly School Initiative (NFSI) and the Girls’ Iron Folic Tablet Supplementation (GIFTS) programme.

The sensitization exercise was held during a Parents Teacher Association (PTA) meeting, providing an opportunity to engage parents on the importance of the initiatives and their role in ensuring effective implementation at the school level.

During the engagement, parents were educated on the objectives of the Nutrition Friendly School Initiative, which seeks to promote healthy eating habits among learners and create an enabling environment for improved nutrition and academic performance.

The team also highlighted the importance of the Girls’ Iron Folic Tablet Supplementation programme in supporting the health and well-being of adolescent girls, particularly in preventing nutritional deficiencies and promoting their growth and development.

Parents were encouraged to actively support the programmes by providing the necessary cooperation, monitoring their children’s participation, and working closely with school authorities to achieve the intended outcomes.
