Anwiankwanta, Ashanti Region – Saturday, 13 September 2025
The Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BMA) on Saturday spearheaded a massive clean-up exercise at the Anwiankwanta Lorry Park as part of its ongoing efforts to promote sanitation and environmental health within the municipality.
The exercise was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Salifu Issaka, who emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to keeping public spaces clean and safe. He was joined by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Ms. Sheila Rosetta Arthur, Assembly Members, and staff of the BMA.
Armed with brooms, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other sanitation tools, the team desilted drains, swept the lorry park, and collected heaps of refuse for proper disposal. Hon. Issaka commended the dedication of Assembly staff and volunteers, urging residents and transport operators to adopt regular clean-up practices to maintain the facility.
Ms. Arthur echoed the call for community participation, stressing that sustainable cleanliness requires the cooperation of all stakeholders, including traders, drivers, and passengers who use the park daily.
The clean-up forms part of the Assembly’s broader sanitation agenda aimed at preventing outbreaks of diseases such as cholera and malaria, while creating a welcoming environment for commuters and visitors to Anwiankwanta.
Residents expressed appreciation for the initiative and pledged to support future clean-up campaigns championed by the Bekwai Municipal Assembly.
