SWCD EMBARKS ON PUBLIC EDUCATION ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AT AMOAMO COMMUNITY

It is the core mandate of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (SWCD) to protect and promote the right of women against domestic violence in the municipality. The exercise which occurred on Wednesday, 5th July, 2023 was to educate the people of Amoamo community in Bekwai municipality on Domestic Violence Against Women.

 Therefore, two officers (Ms. Mary Ofori Pokuaa and Mrs. Ruth Adutwumwaah) from Department of Social Welfare explained the concepts of domestic violence against women.

The term violence against women means any act of gender-based violence that result in or is likely to result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty whether occurring in public or private life.

There are four types of violence they are; Physical, Sexual, Verbal and Psychological Violence.
