The Department on its core mandate to promote and protect the right of the child undertook sensitization activities. The main reason was that there has been developed issue with regard to teenage pregnancy in Bekwai Municipality. The Department has found out that, girls under the ages of nineteen (19) and below are normally found themselves pregnant. Therefore, this exercise on Friday, 19th June, 2023 was to educate parents and girls on teenage pregnancy at Essumeja community.
Officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development undertook the sensitization and three main points were discussed;
1. The overview of teenage pregnancy.
2. The causes and effects of teenage pregnancy.
3. Ways in which teenage pregnancy issues can be resolved.
